Germany’s ‘edutainment’ focused pavilion at Expo Dubai 2020 showcases German innovations and sustainable solutions. The exhibition was designed with a strong visitor-centric approach, leveraging the latest technologies including Sewio RTLS to provide an immersive visitor experience.

When the Cologne-based agency facts and fiction won the tender for the German pavilion bid, they searched for a precise indoor tracking solution to fulfill its use case of allowing visitors to seamlessly participate in various activities performed at multiple interactive kiosks which interact with visitors based on their proximity turning visitors into players. facts and fiction evaluated five different indoor tracking technologies before selecting Sewio RTLS for its precision, reliability, and costs.

Each visitor of the German pavilion gets a personal badge that not only identifies them to create a personalized experience but also features Sewio’s location tag for precise positioning. When the visitor approaches an interactive display, it automatically starts, logs the visitor in and greets them. The localization system is powered by 97 Sewio RTLS anchors covering ten halls within the German pavilion with the ability to enable the location-based gamification for 3,000+ people wearing the badge featuring the Sewio RTLS tag according to their current position.

Immersive Visitor Experience at the German Pavilion

A good overview of what’s inside of Campus Germany from Naanga ready.

The visitor first approach paid off for Germany, as they were selected among the most spectacular pavilions by CNN, resulting in two-hour waiting queues during the weekends to visit one of the best pavilions of Expo 2020. For facts and fiction it was their eighth country pavilion at a world exhibition and thanks to their great work a significant portion of the estimated 25 million visitors will learn more about renewable energy and sustainable solutions through immersive experience enabled by the Sewio RTLS ultrawideband technology.
